If you’re thinking of living in or retiring to Tulum or Playa del Carmen, you probably have a lot of questions about what life is like here. Well keep reading to find out!
What is there to do in Playa del Carmen?
In a word: plenty! Most of the best activities revolve around our stunning beaches. You can go deep sea fishing or snorkeling, or visit our famous eco-park to see exotic animals and marine life. If you’re an avid golfer, we have many beautiful courses. And if you love shopping, there’s no shortage of appealing shops.
What is there to do in Tulum?
Well, you must check out the Mayan ruins. There’s also swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. And I also highly recommend taking a canal trip through the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve!
What are some of the best beaches in the Mexican Caribbean?
Wow, that’s not an easy question to answer because we are blessed to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. But a few of the best are Akumal, Playa Paraiso, and Xpu-ha beaches. I would say my very favorite is the Secret Beach at Playa del Carmen. The beaches in Playa are always quite crowded, but locals know of a beach tucked between the multi-million-dollar Paradisus Hotel complex and Marazul development, that is usually quiet. Don’t tell anyone I told you!
Are there many expats in Playa del Carmen?
Oh yes! There is a thriving expat community made up of people from around the world, though a majority are from the United States and Canada. It’s incredibly easy to make new friends here.
What are some of the best neighborhoods in Playa del Carmen?
Another hard question because there are so many great ones, but I would say Little Italy is fantastic for those who love homemade Italian food and a friendly and authentic atmosphere. This neighborhood is less congested than many others, so it’s quieter and allows you to take a nice stroll in the evenings.
Coco Beach is another great area. This is an undiscovered gem that is still hidden from most, though people are starting to catch on. This means you may see a great return on your investment.
And you can’t go wrong with downtown Playa. This district really does have it all. You have access to gorgeous beaches, shops, bars and restaurants.
So it really depends on what you’re looking for in a neighborhood. If you’re not sure, I can help you decide.
